This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

Overview

In this intermediate level Business Analyst role, this person will be part of a team that provides application development as well as maintenance and support to several client groups within an IT portfolio. The BA will work with the software and solutions currently used by the team so as to understand the current requirements as well as future roadmaps so as to match them with future client needs.

The successful BA candidate will work on multiple projects of various sizes and complexity. They could include software upgrades, custom development or COTS implementation from small enhancements to larger projects. The role will also have some project management responsibilities for smaller projects.

Role and Responsibilities

    Some of the key responsibilities of this BA include:
  • Elicit detailed functional and non-functional requirements from stakeholders ensuring business needs and requirements are accurately documented
  • Coordinate user testing
  • Work closely with senior level Business Analysts to ensure project related business decisions remain in-line with strategic roadmaps
  • Organize and participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and bringing forward opportunities to senor team members
  • When required, independently coordinate and manage project deliverables for smaller projects, following delivery methodology

Qualifications

  • 5+ years business analysis experience within IT and/or business (on projects of various sizes and complexities)
  • 5+ years coordinating and managing projects
  • Proven Business Analysis experience in each of the following areas: i) Requirements gathering and analysis (ability to translate business goals into specific objectives and these objectives into detailed requirements) ii) Ability to ask probing questions and be able to identify patterns, trends and gaps iii) Decision records iv) Gap analysis v) Process mapping diagrams vi) Dataflow and workflow diagrams
  • Experience working in an ITSM/ITIL focused culture
  • Experience in software as a solution environments as well as dealing with application service provider models
  • Experience with commercial off the shelf implementations
  • Process orientated with the ability to discuss, advise, coordinate and document processes with people from varying disciplines
  • Proven understanding of release management process and procedures
  • Proven IS technical competency (to the extent of being able to assist in interpreting and implementing new business functionality)
  • Solid facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with business and IT personnel (subject matter experts, support staff, developers, etc.) as well as vendors
  • Experience with test plans, analysis, findings and remediation plans
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
