Freelance Web Designer / Digital Art Director

Code18 Interactive is a small digital agency that has recently relocated to NYC from Atlanta, GA. We are seeking a talented and experienced Freelance Web Designer / Digital Art Director who would like to join our team and help us continue to grow.

Please Note: This is NOT a full-time position, but for the right candidate, it would represent a fairly steady stream of challenging projects.
This opportunity could be a perfect fit for you if:

• You have a strong and varied portfolio containing consumer-facing websites and banner campaigns. 
• You have a solid understanding of the process and principles of user-centered design. 
• You are able to take a wireframe and a creative brief and really bring a website to life. 
• You have at least a working knowledge of HTML and WordPress. 
• You have an exceptional eye for detail and a very strong work ethic. 
• You are a born multi-tasker and can manage your time effectively. 
• You have previous agency experience. (A little is good, a lot is better.) 
• You have previous experience working on large corporate brands. (Again, a little is good, a lot is better.) 
• You are independent in thought and character, and embrace the freelance lifestyle for good reason. 
• You are comfortable working in a collaborative, small-team environment, and enjoy the natural give and take inherent in that. 
• You are a conceptual thinker and an excellent creative problem solver. 
• You are able to articulate and defend your creative ideas and decisions. But you don't pout if you don't get your way. 
• You are consistent and reliable, and you know what it means to carry your own weight.  
• You understand that the work we do is commercial in nature, and not your own personal art project. 
• You work on a Mac and know your way around Adobe Creative Suite like the back of your hand. 
• You are in the NYC area. (While you are free to work remotely, you will need to be available for in-person meetings from time to time.) 
• You are not a prima donna, nor are you a giant, insufferable asshat. 

 Additional skills that aren't mandatory, but would be helpful and nice to have: Motion graphics, video, 3D, mobile (either app or responsive website design), HTML email, and illustration.
