System Test Engineer-LOCAL to CANADA only please.
Job Purpose:
The System Test Engineer carries out a number of functions including planning, designing, executing and coordinating tests, resources and intra-project interactions, undertaking system and acceptance testing and verifying and documenting problem resolution. The candidate will thrive in a challenging and demanding environment where flexibility and adaptability to swiftly changing situations and solutions is required. You will be able to communicate confidently to all levels of senior management within the Customer organization and 3rd party vendors. You will be assertive and persuasive and have the ability to gain the co-operation of colleagues in situations where the jobholder has no direct authority. Excellent linguistic, writing, and presentation skills are also essential.
Key Outcomes (Deliverables):
- Act as technical test interface to provide clear guidance on the test strategy both internally and to the customer (and 3rd parties)
- Responsible for production of test deliverables including:
- Impact Assessments
- Test Specifications/procedures
- Test Plans and Procedures
- Responsible for ensuring the test deliverables above are documented and communicated to appropriate parties
- Determine and allocate tasks to engineers within your team and monitor progress to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Perform testability analysis of requirements and work with other teams to improve the quality of requirement
- Provide status reports as required by senior management
- Keep up to date with new test methodology and products as they come on-line
Essential Requirements:
- Degree qualified in electronic, communications or software engineering or a related discipline.
- Alternatively significant proven experience within the broadcast industry Qualified to ISTQB Foundation Level or CST certification preferred
- Experience within an IPTV Set-top Box development/Test/delivery environment, including:
- Middleware
- Applications, including UI and Interactive
- Working within the IPTV industry or related field
- 3 to 5 years or more of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance and testing
- Willingness to travel 50%
- Client facing experience in a Consulting relationship
- Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of and experience working with IPTV architectures and IPTV STBs
- Web technologies like PHP, HTML, JS, etc
- Knowledge of programming languages TCL, PERL, and UNIX Shell Scripts.
- Experience working with video (MPEG) streams.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Good spoken and written communication skills.
- Highly computer literate - skilled in the use of Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Project
- Working knowledge of Test Management
Desireable Requirements:
- Strong knowledge on IPTV technologies including Middleware, encoders and EPG
