The Job
This position is a 6-month contract-to-hire position. The role of Senior WordPress Developer is client-facing, fast-paced, and will have you knee-deep in WordPress day-in and day-out. You will be required to architect solutions in PHP/MySQL/WordPress that are scalable and intuitive and provide clients with flexible and well-designed backend systems. The ability to communicate effectively wih clients on a daily basis is a must.
Responsibilities
- Build enterprise-grade WordPress solutions for clients
- Develop requirements, documentation and use cases
- Create unit tests and automation tools
- Collaborate with clients and other team members on various projects
- Maintain well-documented, reusable, and high-quality code
- Fix bugs reported by clients
- Maintain working knowledge of new development software, trends, and practices related to your day-to-day jobs
- Expert knowledge of WordPress, PHP, & MySQL
- Mac users preferred
- Expert knowledge of Unix, Apache, & command line/shell scripting
- Expert knowledge of caching and scalability as it pertains to high-traffic websites and servers
- Good knowledge of version control (both Git & Subversion)
- Good knowledge of Javascript (jQuery, AJAX, etc.)
- Strong oral & written communication skills
- Experience with the Brightcove API
- Experience with the JSKit Echo API
- Experience with common social APIs
- Contributions to an open-source project (ahem, WordPress?)
- Agency experience
- HTML5 experience
- Bow-hunting skills
