Description

If you don't have an onlineportfolio, please don't read any further– you won't be considered for this position! (A list of links, your resume, or any PDF attachment... **none of these are a portfolio**). Thank you. For your information, respectfully, I will only respond to candidates whose portfolios I **love**. So if you don't hear back from me, sorry.

About me:
I am a freelance web designer and developer. You can look at my work here: http://barefingers.net

The Job:
I am looking for an experienced interactive and web designer with whom I can collaborate on web design projects on a long term basis. You would be responsible for producing compelling, stunning, spectacular, ***inspired***, beautiful Photoshop and Illustrator deliverables in the following categories:

  • Web design
  • User Interface
  • User Experience
I'm looking for someone who:
  • Is a total typography geek and has a deep love for Helvetica Neue and grid based layouts. You should be an *expert* in creating typographic systems, understand the vital role they play in good design, and the work in your portfolio should demonstrate your expertise.
  • Loves design not only as an art of communication, but as an art of problem solving.
  • Has an artistic vision and can use the web browser as a canvas to express that vision.
If you have basic knowledge of responsive design, front-end development, CSS, and HTML, even better, but I will be doing all of the coding, and consulting on the design from a developer's standpoint.

I would love it if you also have beautiful illustration/logos/branding examples in your portfolio. It would be amazing if you've designed infographics.

if you have designed amazing print layouts, but don't have web experience, but believe your expert knowledge of typography and grid systems would translate well to web design, I would consider working with you.

I can pay you what you're worth, plain and simple. If I like your portfolio (and I will only contact you if I love your work), you can basically name your price. I am not looking to profit from your talent. I am looking to deliver superior quality work to my clients, plain and simple.

Design budgets generally range from $ to $ to give you an idea. I offer a 50% deposit on projects, 50% upon completion. I will pay you promptly via PayPal, and I will cover the 2.9% plus thirty cents. No bureaucratic bull@#$ or arguing with an accounting department.

***Please consider the following before applying:***
  • I am looking for an *individual freelancer*. If you are an agency please do not apply.
  • To clarify on the above point, if you are a **company**, "IT team", "organization", or will be using the words "our team" in your email, please *****do not email me*****.
  • I would make exceptions for a small two person team, father/son, husband/wife, mother/daughter, brother/sister, or hero/sidekick duos.
  • If you're a college student, or just out of college, and have excellent work but no agency experience, it's all good, your work is what's important. Send me your portfolio anyway.
To apply:
  • Send me a link to your **online** portfolio. If you don't have one, please don't apply. Just a link to your portfolio is all I need.
  • Please do not write a cover letter. Please do not link or attach a resume. Please do not send me your LinkedIn profile. Please do not attach any files to the email. The only link that matters is your portfolio website (or dribbble, behance, etc).
  • Please do not send me any attachments, PDFs, etc.
  • Please use "Freelance Web Designer" as the subject.
  • Your work should speak for itself. There's nothing you could write in a cover letter that will convince me to hire you. The work is all that matters.
  • Seriously, all I need is a link to your portfolio. One link is all I need. If you don't have an online portfolio, please do not email me.
  • One email only please, yes, I got the first one you sent. Please do not follow up.
  • My email is barefingers <dot> net <at> gmail <dot> com. I will ignore your email if you send it to my other email address. Please **do not email me if you don't have an online portfolio website**.
Thank you for your time!!!
