Goodsmarket requires an experienced PHP developer working in either Symfony and/or Laravel to join our team. As an early stage member of the Goodsmarket development team, you will need to be proactive and take a high level of responsibility within assigned areas of work. Enthusiasm and alignment with what we are trying to achieve is very important for the ideal candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with the build and growth of a Restful JSON API which will allow connection by external product inventory and EPOS systems.
• Webhooks must be available for creating new seller accounts on Goodsmarket, adding/matching products by their SKU’s, updating inventory levels from external sources and making available ordering, shipping and customer data.
• Based on an open source PHP codebase, refine and build out a browser based cloud EPOS system, to support our intention to provide local independent retailers with a more integrated online sales experience.
• Inventory management, ordering, fulfilment and hardware connectors for payment devices and receipt printers must all be included in the build.
• All products stored on the system must simultaneously be integrated with Goodsmarket via our JSON API.
• Assist with any other day to day development work that needs to be completed under the Goodsmarket/7Gate umbrella.

Key Skills:

• PHP development, general understanding of computer programming concepts and best practises as they apply to web development.
• Experience and working knowledge of API structures both modern and traditional.
• Ability to work with, structure and make informed decisions on the use of both SQL and NoSQL database variants.
• Ability to work in and experience with modern PHP frameworks, most preferably both Laravel and Symfony, without further guidance and training.
• Accustomed to Test Driven Development process of software development and adhering to TDD best practise across all Goodsmarket products.
• Knowledge and experience with using version control (Git) and basic system administration to enhance our current programming workflow and develop such as our team grows.
• Experience in production of scaleable PHP applications and knowledge of ways to test and refactor code to reduce bottlenecks whether in the code, database or server setup.
