Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and data analysis in the CLIA lab. Experience with molecular diagnostics highly desired. He/she will perform LC-MS and PCR based experiments and instrument calibrations, and preventive maintenance, and will assist in training other CLS and laboratory assistants. The scientist will ensure that complex molecular diagnostic assays and systems are performed under appropriate compliance and regulatory requirements that comply with government regulations and Company policies and procedures. The candidate must also be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director. The ability to perform quality work within a exciting environment is essential. Must be cooperative, detail-oriented and have the ability and willingness to precisely follow complex operating procedures and strict regulations.
Applications will only be reviewed from individuals licensed in Clinical Molecular Genetic Scientist (full CLS or limited license CGMBS) or California-approved Medical Technologist (ASCP).
QUALIFICATIONS
* ASCP certification in molecular genetics and/or current California license required
* Licensed in Clinical Molecular Genetic Scientist (full CLS or limited license CGMBS) or California-approved Medical Technologist (ASCP) with strong molecular background
* Specialist in Molecular (CGMBS) license highly desirable
* BS in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related sciences
* 1+ year related experience required, 3+ years preferred
* Experience in laboratory accreditation and maintenance of standard operating procedures desirable
* Previous molecular diagnostic experience with DNA isolation, PCR or Mass Spectrometry is a plus
