Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 + 15% Flexible Benefits

Location: Blackpool

Duration - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract (possible extension to 2 years due to Carer's Leave)

About the Company

Shared Services Connected Limited is a Joint Venture Organisation, set up on 1 November 2013, jointly owned by Steria (75%) and Cabinet Office (25%).  This is a new and exciting organisation offering a wide range of financial services across a number of diverse clients, notably the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Cabinet Office, Department for Education, Health and Safety Executive and Office for Nuclear Regulation.

Role Overview

Shared Services Connected Limited have an exciting opportunity for a qualified/part qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) Finance Manager with at least 3 years experience in an accounting environment to join our busy Accounts Production Team within Record to Report. This is a business critical role and a great opportunity to strengthen your financial experience across public sector clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in client facing roles and working autonomously.  The successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively as part of the team as well as having the flexibility to work across teams as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce the monthly and annual financial accounts for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), ensuring consistency with prevailing accounting standards, to timescales outlined in service level agreements (SLA's).
  • Maintain the Financial Statement Generated reports for these Accounts to ensure they are fit for purpose and reflect organisational changes.
  • Aid in the management of the de-merger of HSE and ONR and specifically the Oracle implementation of ONR.
  • Complete the Consolidated Reporting Pack to timescale to inform the DWP Resource Account.
  • Take a leading role in managing clients and ensuring the SLA is met at all times.
  • Provide a range of other accounting services to these clients including, preparing notes to the accounts eg staff costs note and commitments note, and managing the collection of evidence to support sample testing of transactions by the National Audit Office.
  • Prepare a number of general ledger reconciliations on behalf of the client to ensure reliability of its balance sheet figures.
  • Take the lead in resolving customer queries.
  • Ensure the effective management of risk for own area of responsibility in a manner consistent with Shared Services' Frameworks

Essential Skills                                                                                                                       

  • Qualified or part qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CCAB) with at least 3 years experience in an accounting environment.
  • Strong IT skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills,
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and works well under pressure.
  • Team player and ability to work flexibly across a number of teams.
  • Able to engage effectively with clients to promote the organisation.
  • Experience of the delivery of excellent customer service to a range of customers.

Desirable Skills           

  • Experience of central Government accounting
  • Up to date operational knowledge of an Oracle ERP Accounting system            

The successful candidates will be required to obtain UK Security Clearance to SC level
