Description

Will work on Servers, workstations, and PCs as well as connected hardware and peripherals and the network gear connecting these systems. The specialist must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose the OS, applications, and support software as well. The OSs will range from Windows desktops, Windows Servers, Solaris, SuSE, Ubuntu, Mandriva, Cisco, Sonicwall, and other proprietary systems. Support is and the candidate is required to be on call to support these systems as part of a team. This position will also work with other members to find new and innovative ways to streamline, optimize, and improve the systems and infrastructure.

SKILLS:

  • Must be able to tear down and rebuild computer Servers, workstations, desktops, and other related equipment in terms of processors, RAM, HDD, RAID configurations, Expansion Cards, PSUs, fans, and Mobos.
  • Must be able to build, install, configure, update, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple Operating systems, to include Windows Servers (various flavors), SuSE, Mandriva, RedHat, and other flavors of Linux, Solaris and other proprietary systems.
  • Must know administrative and/or root-level commands to troubleshoot, configure, update, and manage multiple operating systems to include but not limited to those previously listed, but also including networking devices from vendors such as Sonicwall, Juniper, Cisco, TP Link, and other manufacturers.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot network-related problems using tools and packet analyzers.
  • Must be familiar with the basic workings of DNS, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, Telnet, and other services
    Provide technical support to multiple departments on issues concerning system builds, upgrades, migrations, capabilities, specifications, and architecture
  • Interface with customers to assist in configuring, managing, or troubleshooting networked devices, computers, Servers, network gear, etc.
  • Create on-going documentation as it relates to support processes, build out documentation, troubleshooting, and other related functions
  • Must be able to travel to foreign countries to deploy and support Servers and computers
  • Two years experience in the IT systems support field
  • Moderate to expert technical-level verbal and written communication skills in English
