Senior Criticality Assessor NW based, full time contract position until Dec 2014 -must be SC cleared. Start ASAP

Senior Criticality Safety Assessor tasks may include, but are not limited to, HAZOP attendance, Criticality HAZAN and Engineering Schedule production, safety case authorship, MONK calculations and document checking and review. In addition, the Senior Criticality Safety Assessor may be required to provide general safety case guidance and input to the other members within the Safety Case Team/ project team.

The key qualities UUK requires of a Senior Criticality Safety Assessor are…
  • An experienced technical discipline professional (typically 5-10 years of directly relevant experience in the technical discipline but more/ less experience will be considered).
  • Understands nuclear criticality safety considerations with reference to current regulatory expectations, industry good practice and requirements for modern standards safety cases. In particular, must have experience in the application of Design Basis Accident Analysis and the Double Contingency principle to criticality faults;
  • Competent as criticality assessor for UK nuclear chemical process plant and competent to perform, check, and assure the appropriate use of technical assessment tools and processes, in particular, must have a detailed knowledge of MONK and its application
  • Has experience of different phases of the project lifecycle and experience of safety cases and technical discipline assessment, preferably for numerous UK licensees.
  • Understands how criticality safety assessment supports the nuclear safety case and is able to coordinate input from any related and supporting disciplines for the completion of an assigned task, e.g human factors.
  • Must be able to work independently, plan own work and assure delivery of criticality safety assessments to time, budget and quality. Able to identify potential issues before they impact upon delivery to time, budget and quality and suggest and implement suitable recovery plans.
