The primary responsibility of this position is technical delivery, including working with designers and analysts to plan, set up, and execute structural durability related field and lab tests, performing experimental modal analysis tests, analysing test data, documenting results and providing recommendations for improving product durability. The individual will be responsible for executing their own test work as well as assisting other engineers with setting up and running their tests. An important part of the position is to make contributions to resolving complex, sometimes challenging, structural issues. The individual also may be asked at times to execute or support driveline dynamics tests. Travel is required.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.
  • Work to maintain a safe and professional work environment. Participate regularly in safety inspections and identify ways to perform the job more safely.
SKILLS:

This job requires an accredited four year engineering degree and 5 years of experience, 2 years experience with structural testing, strong initiative, good communication skills & interpersonal skills, excellent teamwork, customer focus, planning skills, and familiarity with Customer products. Must be comfortable working at height. Should be comfortable working around lab test equipment.

Highly Desired
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with prior experience in structural dynamics testing and/or prior machine development experience
  • Familiar with Multi-Axis Simulation Table Testing
  • Familiar with MTS hardware/software
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation, specifically eDAQ
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing, signal analysis, and fatigue analysis
  • Familiarity with on-machine structural testing methods, including knowledge of strain gage techniques, bolted joint testing and accelerometer usage
  • Experience with experimental modal analysis and associated software tools such as LMS Test.Lab and ME'scopeVES
  • Software experience with Device Automation Toolkit, ProE, VisView and standard MS Office programs
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Project management experience
