Senior Business Analyst6 Months- Warrington Technical Support, IT Services
The centralised IT Services department (ITS) supports the University's distributed computing facilities. There are approximately 5,000 PCs running in excess of 550 applications (many of which are delivered using application virtualisation), with over 400 physical and virtual servers on the University network which is used by over 25,000 stu and 2,000 staff.
The central computing facilities are based on Windows Server and RedHat Linux systems. These servers are distributed between two central computer rooms and a number of campus based sub-centres. There are four SANs, two in each of the central computer rooms. The infrastructure and end user equipment is centrally managed using a combination of bespoke and standard Microsoft tools. This complex infrastructure provides services to support both the administration of the University and its Teaching and Learning activities.
This is a customer facing role based in the Technical Support group within IT Services. The Senior Business Analyst will work alongside the Enterprise Systems and Business Information Systems development teams. They will support new projects and change requests across core system applications including: The Stu Information System, Finance System, Human Resources System, CRM and the internally developed Data Exchange System. In addition to core systems the development teams also support a wide range of interfaces to external service providers including: UCAS and the HMRC.
In order to facilitate requirements analysis, the successful candidate will be expected to develop working relationships with a wide range of University customers and clients, representing the different functions performed by the Faculties and Schools, for example: Recruitment, Enrolment, Academic Registry and Finance. The post-holder will also be assisted by, and have first line management responsibility for a Project Support Officer.
