JOB SUMMARY:

Primary responsibility of this position is to setup, operate, maintain, and trouble shoot Computer Control Systems (CCS) for onsite MPD applications. The person selected for this position will be expected to rig in the CCS along with any sensors required to provide data for the CCS as well as access and use data from existing sources.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Job Specific HSE Requirements
  • Knowledge of all equipment specifications, pressure test procedures, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, QA and Health & Safety guidelines
  • Conduct pre-ops safety meeting requirements and audits operational paperwork and records in accordance with job file requirements
  • Safely and efficiently rig down, pack and back load equipment in a safe, organized manner


Equipment and Operations
  • Set upCCS at wellsite.
  • Interface CCS with various data acquisition systems.
  • Carry out constant monitoring of equipment on site/location, maintain and calibrate on the job as required
  • Perform diagnostics, trouble shoot, repair and maintain essential inventory and replacement parts for CCS, instrumentation, and flow controls


A diploma in electronics, instrumentation, or related field or the equivalent in industry experience. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Candidates should have a minimum of four years oilfield experience and at least two years working with PLC systems with projects delivered without exception.Previous experience as an MPD Control Systems Trainee preferred.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Understanding of PLC control systems.
  • Understanding of interfacing protocols i.e. WITS and OPC
  • Self-directed and demonstrates sound decision making
  • Demonstrates a keen insight for the Control System
  • Competent with Microsoft office products


WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is primarily a field position and requires world wide travel on short notice.

There is no set rotation and individuals can expect to be in the field in excess of 30 days at a time. This position requires shift work with a typical shift length of 12 hours, however, including change-over between shifts and attending required meetings, the average day may be 14 hours. If a problem with the DAPC system occurs when employee is off shift he/she will be called upon to troubleshoot and repair the problem. Projects involving MPD are multimillion dollar ventures and down time or equipment malfunction can produce a highly stressful situation.
