Description
MyHouseDeals is an web business based in Houston, TX seeking experienced web applications developer with strong background in web design and application management to re-build and maintain a membership website from the ground up. This position requires the following skill sets:
Programming (PHP 5.4+):
Building applications and system architecture.
Error handling.
Database Interaction.
User authentication and authorization.
Object Oriented Design (design patterns, refactoring and code re-use in general).
Knowledge of PHP Frameworks/ORMs (Symfony, Laravel, Propel, Doctrine).
Knowledge of backend support tools (Composer, Git, Bower).
Ability/desire to learn enough ASP Classic/MS SQL Server to interpret current code base.
Zend Certified Architect preferred.
Database:
Data abstraction, normalization, and entity relationships.
Query optimization.
Security contexts.
Report Building.
Knowledge of MySql or PostgreSQL.
Web Design:
Knowledge of HTML5/CSS3, Javascript
Cross-browser compatibility (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera).
Optimizating page load time.
Usability best practices.
Search Engine/Spider "friendly" design.
Knowledge of front-end support tools (LESS, Twitter Bootstrap, jQuery, KnockoutJS, etc).
Software Life-Cycle:
Determining software specifications.
Estimating coding time from software requirements.
Familiarity with revision management software, such as Subversion.
Scheduling and prioritizing maintenance issues.
Compensation:
This is a contract position with hourly pay commensurate with relevant experience and skill set. Long-term contract option available. Position provides enough work for a full-time workload.
Work Environment:
This is a flex-schedule, telecommuting position . Applicants are not required to reside in Houston, TX, but may be asked to travel to Houston for special projects on occasion. Position requires 35-40 hours/week commitment.
