FTC is looking to recruit a Senior Acoustic Consultant, with ambition to manage and develop the acoustic consultancy services provided by the company. This position is for an initial one year contract period.

Based in either our Cork or Dublin Office, the following attributes are required from the ideal candidate;

Key Responsibilities

• Senior Acoustic Scientist reporting to the Head of the Environment & Energy division within the company
• Responsible for co-ordinating and preparing all acoustic related work within the company
• Key aspect of role will be preparation of noise impact assessments for a variety of projects, including, but not limited to, wind farms, industrial facilities and energy projects
• In addition to noise impact assessments for EIS's, the successful candidate will also contribute to planning compliance assessments, due diligence, CEMPs and pre-planning reports
• Contribute to other general scientific project work, dependent on experience
• Provide assistance to the Division Head and other team members in liaising with clients on noise related topics
• Undertake technical peer review of noise and environmental deliverables including EIS sections
• Advise and contribute to business development initiatives for acoustic work
• Prepare and contribute to preparation of tenders/proposals (not limited to acoustic related scopes)
• Deliver all work in accordance with our ISO environment and related project requirements

Skills/Qualifications/Capabilities

• Minimum honours degree in environmental science or equivalent qualification with post-graduate qualification consisting wholly or partially of acoustics training
• Minimum 5 years experience in environmental assessment and noise impact assessments at an equivalent level to that described above
• Membership of the IOA would be advantageous
• Wind farm noise assessment skills key to role
• Ability to work independently essential
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in technical report writing and in presenting to clients, team members and at public presentations (expert witness experience desirable)
• Must be able to demonstrate examples of deliverables equivalent to those described above
• Must possess excellent analytical skills
• Must demonstrate strong project management skills
• Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the use of prediction standards and assessment guidance
