IT Broadcast Specialist

Introduction

Our client is a subsidiary of a big leader in the Telecom industry, specialized in the development, production and distribution of audiovisual and multimedia products and services.
The firm was founded in 2005 to manage the broadcasting rights for professional football in Belgium. The firm is a dynamic company playing an important role for the TV entity of the parent company. It's activities have grown and diversified a lot during the latest years. Besides the Foot is handling, the Video On Demand (VOD) catalogue of the parent company, the promotion channels and diverse Video productions for internal group clients.

Function

You are part of the IT & Broadcast team, together with your colleagues you are responsible to manage, operate and support the IT and broadcast systems of the company. The team is responsible for operations and engineering.

The goal of operations is to deliver a high quality service and availability; the goal of engineering is to undertake actions to improve the long term quality of service, reliability and effectiveness of the systems.

Typical engineering tasks include identifying, recommending and implementing initiatives to improve the IT landscape, reliability and capabilities of the infrastructure to better serve production. The team's scope is rich and varied, including:

For engineering: the full breadth of Project life cycle is covered from inception, design through implementation and care.

For support: typical operation processes, including support, incident management, problem management, change management, etc.

Your primary focus is on the IT systems, there are plenty of opportunities to learn new technologies and unique needs that audiovisual and VOD operations pose on IT. The team manages storage, Servers, clients, its own network and applications.

Your specific responsibilities:

Support: the team supports various shifts and you will need to also man the first line support to support the second shift and weekend shift. The goal of the function is to respond to users incidents seeking to resolve these rapidly so as to minimize any impact to the production. You will record requests, resolve and report on the incident status including, when necessary, raising incidents to our vendors and manage these.

Engineering: Drawing from the conclusions of problem management you will together with the team on actions, recommendations, small projects to tackle recurring problems and improve the service. The main goal of the engineering is to take proactive measures to ease the operation, reliability and service.

Knowledge of typical processes and best practices ITIL or equivalent is an asset

Technical skills & education
Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
5-10 years of experience in IT whereby IT in a broadcast environment is a distinct benefit
You have a strong knowledge of Windows Server , SAN, Fiberswitch, Windows Workstation, storenext, SQL Server, Microsoft System Center
You have a networking knowledge (Switches - Routers), Active Directory, Windows Installation
You can work with Firewalls (checkpoint), vpns, and 3rd party vendors
