Agile tester required to work within a high profile online environment. The successful candidate will have an extensive working knowledge of agile methodologies and associated testing practices. This candidate will play a key role in shaping the project testing practices to ensure quality is at the heart of the product, as per the agile ethos.

Macmillan Science & Scholarly (NPG) is a publisher of high impact scientific and medical information in print and online. Macmillan publishes journals, online databases, and services across the life, physical, chemical and applied sciences and clinical medicine.

Requirements

• Participating with the project team in agile planning, review, retrospective and backlog grooming activities
• Collaborating with the team to derive project scope from goals through the creation of value focused User Stories
• Collaborating with developers and wider business stakeholders to identify and create business readable acceptance criteria
• Working with the development team to automate acceptance criteria inline with best practices
• Collaborating with developers and wider business stakeholders to identify non-functional project requirements
• Identifying areas for testing improvement and working with the team to implement appropriate agile practices
• Continue work to integrate a suitable performance and stress testing strategy into the iterative agile framework
• Facilitating communication between technical and non technical project stakeholders, driving a shared understanding of the domain
• Testing experience in agile development environment (TDD/ATDD, BDD) is a must
• Experienced in exploratory testing making use of available resources, skills and knowledge and finding as many critical errors as possible within available timeframe.

Necessary skills and experience

• Solid understanding of Agile principles and values including Scrum, BDD and ATDD
• Web Services testing experience in REST and SOAP
• Experience in Java applications testing and understanding of Ruby and Rubygems
• Experience of developing automation tests and harness using tools such as Cucumber, RSpec and Selenium-WebDriver
• Experience in carrying out performance and loadtesting with tools like JMeter
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Continuous Integration using tools like Hudson/Jenkins
• Very good understanding of principles of Continuous Delivery in helping development to automate and improve the process of software delivery.
• Good understanding of Front End web technologies (XML, HTML, JavaScript)
• Experience with GitHub and be familiar with Jira and Confluence
• Familiar with Linux redhat/Mac OSX and shell scripting
