Web Portal Engineer - Madrid / SpainA Web Portal Engineer is needed to work for our client, a prestigious international Telecom company in Madrid, Spain on a contract basis.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the analysis, diagnosis and resolution for all the incidents and problems
Performing monitoring & proactive maintenance tasks on the in scope portal systems
Involved in the implementation of the new portals systems, including installation of the Apache web servers, Tomcat application servers, databases, PHP and JRE environments, application setup & deployment in application servers and web servers
Performing new version compilation of PHP on existing service, and also the recompilation of existing PHP module to add libraries
Performing tests for the new release of the portal applications in the testing environments
Managing the services certificates and licenses with 3rd parties
Management & configuration of the in scope DNS servers & firewalls
Interfacing with Service Management team to ensure that all technical issues that will affect the operational environment are solved inside the agreed SLAs
Out of hours support as part of an on-call role

Requirement
Bachelor's degree in a Telecommunication / IT / Computer Science/ Engineering / Mathematical discipline or relevant skills or equivalent professional experience.
Must have participated in the design and development of Web Portal based solutions
3+ years of information technology and software development/maintenance experience including web-based application development
2+ years of experience in PHP / HTML / CSS
2+ years of database development (MySQL / Oracle)
2+ years of Linux/Unix system administration experience, command line, (Apache, Tomcat)
Hands-on experience in software version control
2+ years of DNS server management, and knowledge on firewall maintenance is a plus
Knowledge and experience in Telco industry is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with peers and management
Willing to travel frequently to different countries in Europe and to work in an international environment between 3 to 9 months per year
Ability to interact with diverse customers in a multi-cultural environment
Strong problem solving skills, quick learner and self-motivated team player
Fluency in English is mandatory, and Spanish language skills is a plus
