An expert level Database Administrator is required to join a large production support team, for my household name client in Birmingham. You will be tasked with taking the lead on several SQL Environment projects in and will also be required to assist in the progression of more junior DBA's within the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* 24/7 production support of SQL Clustered Server databases/applications
* Coach and mentor Junior DBAs as well as be responsible for functional workloads
* Design both logical and physical Clustered Server environment including SAN, OS and DB Engine configuration standards
* Maintain Data integrity through backup and recovery utilities; Query Optimisation; Database tuning; Coding Triggers, Complex Views, Indexes and Stored Procedures
* Systems administration on operation systems with the Windows server family (Windows 2000, Windows Enterprise Clustered Environments)
* Perform indexes and stored procedure tuning; handle security, backups and recovery
methodologies for troubleshooting and development
* Experienced in SQL Reporting
* Experience working with Replication technologies like EMC Recover point etc
* Share On Call rotation duties with the production DBA team
Technical Requirements:
* Comprehensive knowledge of database administration (design, installation & troubleshooting) of current MS SQL Server and Windows Server Enterprise platforms
* Database performance and optimisation experience with very large databases utilising EMC SAN storage along with EMC Recover point Replication
* Experience working with a Clustered Server database environment
* Ability to ensure the technical integrity of corporate databases by protecting against the loss or misuse or information and designing backup/recovery strategies
* Ability to provide database design, implementation and performance tuning consulting services
* Industry-leading knowledge of high volume complex SQL Server database environments
* SSIS/DTS programming
* Table and index design with optimisation in high volume batch load environments
* Experience with partitioning, mirroring and replication
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years SQL programming experience building high volume, mission critical, data-driven applications
* Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL Server to include Full lifecycle development of complex system and application software
* MCITP, MCDBA or MCTS (desirable)
