Description
My Glasgow based client are currently looking for a Database Administrator for a 3 month contract position.As part of the role you will be involved in migrating production, testing and development databases from SQL 2005 - SQL 2012 whilst making sure there are no dispuptive issues. The successful candidate will also assess the performance of the clients database and identify any issues that come up, alongside performing daily, weekly and monthly data maintenance tasks.
Essential skills are as follows:
- Minimum 3 years experience in Database Administration in SQL Server )
- Strong experience of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues.
- Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools are hugely important.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching work
- Knowledge of how to identify and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
- Expert experience in implementing operational automation
- SQL server development including very strong T-SQL skills
- Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands
Desirable:
- .Net development skills with C#
