Working closely with the VP of Public Relations and other senior executives from across the organization as well as with the Marketing team, the marketing consultant is responsible for raising and enhancing the Company's profile by driving specific media relations initiatives for consumer and tech press outlets, including the announcement of new web and mobile product launches. In addition, the role includes the securing of all appropriate external speaking opportunities for executives to further build awareness. The contractor is also responsible for overseeing the creation of original content and managing a PR agency.

SKILLS:

Required:

  • At least 7-10 years of corporate communications experience, either in-house or agency, is required
  • Relationships with consumer and technology journalists.
  • Extensive experience pitching and securing media coverage
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, including specific experience and expertise in the drafting of corporate press releases
  • Proven history of managing speaking opportunities for senior executives
  • Highly organized with experience managing multiple projects on tight deadlines and with great attention to detail
  • Must have 6-8 years Corp Comms Experience working in-house or at agency
  • Must have 6-8 years experience making Consumer/Tech Press Contacts and have relationships with appropriate press
  • Must have 6-8 years experience Pitching/Securing Media Coverage
  • Excellent Communication skills (written and spoken), example knows how to write press release, knows how to pitch press
  • Must have 6-8 years experience pitching to execs for conferences and prepping executives for speaking publicly
  • Must have 6-8 years experience managing Deadlines - Knows how to use time wisely, stick to deadlines, especially press deadlines

Desired:
  • Experience in communications with in-house or at an agency working with consumer technology, lifestyle brands, small businesses
  • B.A. or equivalent preferred with a strong academic record
