My client is a major player in the financial industry with offices world-wide. They are looking to take on an eager, passionate and accomplished Senior Linux System engineer to be their in-house expert. You will be a key decision maker and you will take ownership of the linux element of the environment.

They have 4 datacentres across the globe and the team's main duty is the support of the Dublin datacentre. This Linux engineer will be joining a real team environment. You will have a unique opportunity to work in-house on multiple projects, in a multi-vendor environment. You will get exposure to all of these technologies, and as a result you will add in-depth experience across the infrastructure as a whole to your skill set.

This Senior Linux Engineer should have extensive experience of Linux platforms. Your primary responsibility is for systems and services on RedHat Enterprise Linux server platforms and its derivatives. Ideally this Senior Linux System Engineer will demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in Linux architecture and administration, and should possess experience administering other IT Infrastructure platforms such as Microsoft, VMware and Citrix.

Responsibilities

- Deploy, manage and maintain the global Linux infrastructure
- Manage and maintain key Linux services including Samba, Winbind, Apache, BIND, NX and Rsync
- Work alongside the Data Team to implement, manage and support Linux based database solutions
- Provide architect level guidance on strategy, design, implementation, DR and maintenance of Linux systems
- Share responsibility for the Data Center change processes such as approval and implementation of new DC infrastructure including monthly reporting
- Assist the network team with LAN and WAN administration
- Deploy and maintain storage technology and services, including SAN, direct attached storage, external arrays
- Deploy, maintain and operates server virtualization, including Linux, VMware and Microsoft
- Administer, deploy, document and operate data backup services, including Hitachi, Commvault Simpana
- Develop end user FAQ's and technical communications, including training other IT departments and business unit staff as required
- Support systems engineering efforts associated with product development, architectural design and operational support of new and existing technologies

Requirements:

- RedHat RHCSA certification or demonstrable equivalent experience required. RHCE to RHCA certification is an advantage
- Scripting experience in Bash, Powershell or other script languages essential
- Solid experience with layer 2 & 3 network operations and network technologies (DHCP, DNS, VPN, NAT), CCNA certification an advantage
- Skilled with various Data Centre technologies including VMware, Linux, Multi-Vendor FC SAN & Storage, Microsoft Data Centre Server, Dell/IBM Servers, Commvault Simpana
- Solid experience of the Microsoft product set. Microsoft certifications are an advantage.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven project management skills and experience
- Assist with deployment and on-going operations support of Microsoft Active Directory services, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Lync and other MS products as required
- Provide support for and maintenance of VMware virtualization environment
- Familiarity with ITIL V3 as an operational framework desired
