My client has a team of highly skilled operations engineers who are performing a DevOps function. They are the link between the infrastructure team and the other teams in the business. These Operations Engineers are responsible for ensure that processes are put in place to ensure that the whole IT architecture works as smoothly as possible. You will liase with other teams and then implement tools and technologies to solve key performance issues within the business. You will use DevOps methodology and tools to ensure the 24X7 uptime of the mission critical e-commerce website.

It is a great environment to work in, but it is hectic, so you must be prepared for a high pressured, challenging role. You will juggle multiple projects with your team and help decide on technologies that you will implement. Working with the development teams, you will be building tools, developing best practices, improving how they measure and monitor their services, ensuring high availability and performance.

Must have:
- A deep understanding of the Linux operating system
- Extensive scripting experience e.g. Perl, Shell, Ruby (for automation)
- Zabbix, Nagios, etc. (in a production environment)
- Experience in a 24/7 production environment

Nice to have:
- A strong understanding of web technologies
- Experience with large database driven websites
- Solid networking knowledge
- Experience with complex SQL scripts, database administration, and/or database
modelling, preferably with Oracle
