We are looking for a
Synthetic Research Chemist (m/f)

Your tasks:
  • Organization and carry out the syntheses of target molecules, which can be used in Vector Control, especially against mosquitoes which transmit malaria and to optimize synthetic routes.
  • Detailed planning of organic reactions, taking into consideration safe laboratory practice and careful risk assessment
  • Safely performing organic reactions in the laboratory, using a wide range of synthetic and purification skills
  • Independently use appropriate analytical techniques to follow reactions (incl. TLC, IR, GC, LC)
  • Characterization of the nature and purity of synthesized products (1D-NMR, MS, IR, MPt, LC, GC, LC-MS, GC-MS)
  • Preparation of new analogues as well as optimization of chemical processes
  • Protocolling and reporting of results
  • Interacting and communicating in a divers and international professional environment


Your qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master in Organic Chemistry (or an equivalent education, e.g. technician with practical experience); industrial working experience is a benefit, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of practical organic chemistry
  • Expertise in the use of standard and modern chemical laboratory equipment
  • Capable to perform multistep synthesis and to optimize reaction conditions
  • Excellent understanding of purification techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of common spectroscopic techniques
  • Basic skills with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of English
