Guitar.com is looking for an experienced, senior developer to help build the next, great iteration of Guitar.com.

    About the position:
    Guitar.com is looking for a senior Developer with strong Drupal development experience, a killer portfolio and great personality who can contribute creatively as well as technically to the new Guitar.com site currently in development.

    This is a full-time position, or full-time contract arrangement. Remote office (telecommute) option offered. Potential candidate located in North America with preference to candidates local to Dallas.

    Experience with guitars, amps, effects, tabs and general guitar knowledge is not essential, though highly desirable.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for development of the site, both contributing directly and by managing the work contributed by other Guitar.com team members.
    Desired skills and experience:
  • Software development lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated leadership of 3rd party development teams.
  • Proven experience with Drupal 6 and 7, vbulletin ¾.
  • Advanced Drupal module, theme, and plugin creation / modification.
  • PHP 5 and other scripting language experience.
  • Strong MySQL and/or other relational databases (PostgreSQL).
  • Deep knowledge of memcached, Varnish, and other caching technologies.
  • Application performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience managing multiple development environments, deployment processes, and automating the build and deployment between staging and production environments.
  • Third party content hosting setup and management.
  • API integration.
  • Comfortable with Git or other version control systems.
  • At home on a Bourne/C shell.
  • Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5 / CSS3.
  • Browser compatibility testing across multiple operating systems.
  • Knowledge of database optimization, normalization, sharding and good schema design.


  • Bonus points:
  • Mobile Application development and implementation for Android, iOS, Windows RT with either native applications or mobile subsites.
  • Experience building highly available and scalable applications across multiple platforms and infrastructure vendors.
  • Website monetization and ad targeting experience.
  • Minimum 6 years professional development experience.
  • Front end and back end development experience.
  • Experience and ability to perform some functions of user experience, information architecture and design disciplines.
  • Experience working in Agile – Scrum teams.
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira-Agile and Confluence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
