OpenRoad Development Lead - 9 month contract - Newport, South Wales

An OpenROAD Development Lead is required with extensive OpenROAD experience, to join the current OpenROAD Architecture development team. The team are supporting a platform and delivering software for major IT projects.

The Development Lead is a key role which is mandatory on all development projects. The Development Lead has overall responsibility for ensuring that the software release is fit for purpose and delivered to an agreed timetable. In doing so they will gain an overview of the technologies and common components used and be able to provide feedback to other technical specialists eg. the designer on the appropriateness of a particular approach.

Skills/experience required:

- Proven experience of OpenROAD, SQL, Unix, INGRES, AIX and data management which demonstrates your in-depth experience of analysis/programming in a real business environment
- Ability to work on your own initiative in a pressurised environment, making incisive decisions
- Experience of leading and managing technical teams; having a flexible approach with good organisational skill
- Hands-on experience of all parts of the application systems life cycle
- Proven experience of handling change in an IT environment, with an awareness of Project Management Techniques (including planning, budget, monitoring risk and quality management)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to interact successfully with all levels of customer and IT management, and the ability to influence and persuade
- Experience of Agile techniques and principles

Desirable skills:

- Knowledge of OpenROAD DAOgen
- Experience of upgrading to Windows 7 (ideally in relation to OpenROAD 3.5)
- Experience of upgrading to Linux (ideally from an AIX platform)
- Experience of Build and Release processes
