Position Description: This position reports to the DOC (Digital Operations Center) Manager and is responsible for supporting the delivery of content and services which includes web, video, messaging, and applications to various technologies (ie mobile devices, computers, etc.) in support of the 24 x 7 x 365 Digital Operations environment.

The Systems Engineer will ensure that Service Level Targets are met in reviewing and/or managing incidents and service requests; trending recurring events and incidents to initiate problem investigations; leading medium-scale technical projects working with partners & vendors to gather requirements to identify and implement solutions. Document events ready for production launches and deliver training to internal team.

Qualifications: Responsibilities

- Document production releases from a technical perspective to train the Tier 1 DOC staff

- Systems Troubleshooting and Problem resolution

- Server System Administration, changes to production systems

- Evaluation of new products/services, working with vendors

- Provide the highest level of technical production support for applications, assist others with complex problem resolution, and respond with solutions to both functional and technical issues in a timely manner.

- Work with Digital System Functional/Business Liaisons, Project Managers, or other management to recommend process or system enhancements.

Experience Required:

- 3 - 5 years of systems administration experience in an Internet technology operations environment.

- Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools/platforms. Configuration experience with open source and SaaS based monitoring tools.

- Background supporting Development teams and build, test and release platforms and processes.

- A solid understanding of UNIX, Linux, Windows and open standards operating systems.

- Knowledge on Internet network protocols, standards, and systems.

- Familiar with risk and issue management elements including: Intrusion Detection, VPN, Secure Shell, Networking, Network Infrastructure, Remedy, Security Software and Cisco.

- Moderate first-hand experience using Web related technologies and programming languages which include: HTML, XML, JAVA, PHP, Ruby, Python, Tcl/Tk, and NSAPi.

- Lead experience in a production support, NOC or Customer Service Call Center environment working with ticketing systems, customers, change management systems, etc.

- Ability to interpret various Web server operational characteristics and accurately determine the presence of a problem. Once a problem is discovered, ability to identify possible solutions, selecting the most appropriate solution, and implementing that solution in a timely manner.

- Ability to write scripts using a Scripting language (Perl, Shell, SQL, and CGI Scripting)

- Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, training others in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management
