Description
Network Fibre Analyst - Singapore - 12 month contract - £325 a day
Within a lit and dark fibre network, candidates will analyse optical fibre test data deriving from various sources internal team test data, vendor test data and manufacturer test data) and provide resolutions to optical issues as required.
Candidates will be expected to provide thorough guidance in the acceptance of fibre within ISP and OSP applications as it relates to meeting company network standards. Interfacing with vendors to provide remediation and prove successes to optical issues will be a common task. Creation and maintenance of related project test data will be required in an active database.
Candidate will work in a team environment, be able to manage various jobs in Tandem and be able to learn or offer assistance to team members on a daily basis. This position has a 20% travel potential.
Content Knowledge:
- able to understand and fully interpret OTDR traces including all event data
- able to understand and fully interpret Chromatic Dispersion and Polarization Mode Dispersion data
- able to fully operate typical optical fiber analysis test equipment (OTDR and CD/PMD testing, Laser source/power meter (insertion loss) testing
- able to fully identify ISP and OSP fiber issues and provide resolution advice
- troubleshooting fiber optic installations or installed cable plant skills are essential
- understanding of various fiber types and their inherent characteristics
- strong knowledge of telecom office infrastructure:
- optical fiber infrastructure (OSP and ISP)
- splicing techniques and inherent characteristics
- interconnection techniques and inherent characteristics
- familiar with telecom carrier dark fiber turnover packages and analysis techniques
Software Knowledge:
- understands and has high working/operational knowledge of MS Visio and MS Excel with ability to create/edit documents, create/edit templates and create/edit macros
- Understanding and has high working knowledge of EXFO Toolbox used in the analysis of fibre test data
- Advanced understanding of MS operating systems and file management
- Advanced understanding of all Google Docs applications
