Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical and system analyses employing applicable industry and standard / regulatory rules arriving at practical engineering solutions
  • Perform detailed system design review through the REA and Rig Mod processes
  • Perform review of vendor bulletins crafting follow-up action plan
  • Perform technical gap analysis in support of marketing
  • Perform Class society submittal and resolve all electrical open comments
  • Draft equipment testing procedures and participate in product FAT
  • Draft systems and equipment specifications
  • Draft equipment repair procedures
  • Draft equipment-specific preventive maintenance job plans
  • Draft electrical construction standards
  • Provide technical solutions for the operations and asset management teams execution.
  • Attend rig surveys / audits and onsite system/rig commissioning as required
  • Develop proficiency in application of marine regulatory society rules:Classification Society (i.e. ABS, DNV, BV, and Lloyds), IMO MODU Code, and flag state in reference to rig electrical power and control systems
  • Staying up-to-date on evolving technologies and industry standards applicable to the drilling industry

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years in a similar role in a business of similar size and complexity
  • Practical experience in this job classification is required.
  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university is required. Advanced degree desirable
  • PE or other professional licenses is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the following standards is required: IEEE, IEC, NEC, NEMA, UL Standards
  • Must be computer literate and competent in the use of MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Project, and have a working knowledge in AutoCAD
  • Ability to code in AB RS Logix5000, Siemens Step 7 FDL
  • Proficient using Real-time Operating System (RTOS) VxWorks, Linux Operating System and Tck/TK scripting language.
  • Intensive use of C, Visual Basic, Ladder Logic PLC, SCADA and IEC new generation Programmable Automation Controller language.
  • Proficient analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in drafting concise technical report
  • Travel to domestic and foreign locations both on and offshore is required
