Facilities Engineer

We have an immediate need for (2) Facilities Engineers!  These are 9 month contract positions located anywhere in the US.

The Facilities Engineers will be responsible for assessing all hardware requirements and their related impact on the Data Center and performing placement assignments within the Data Center.  Daily tasks and responsibilities include representing the Data Center team on transformation planning meetings, performing project oversight to ensure Data Center tasks are completed, coordinating with multiple teams to schedule physical Data Center tasks, building hardware and assisting with physical tasks where appropriate, and ensuring that all systems and databases are updated.

Successful candidates must be experienced and have specialized knowledge in Data Center hardware planning, installing (racking/stacking/cabling) in relevant technologies/devices within scope including server, storage, network, and Mainframe. Project Management skills and advanced aptitude using excel spreadsheets is a requirement. Must be a quick learner, adaptable and flexible to the work environment and possess excellent communication and teaming skills.

Hardware Planning
* Coordinate and plan placement of all hardware installed in the Data Center
* Ensure compliance with hardware specification requirements including density management, installation policies and best practices for hardware
* Responsible for grid location mapping
* Ensure density mapping per pre-defined standards
* Provide management reporting as required
* Rack designData Center Workload Placement (WLP) Governance
* Responsible for WLP Request life cycle management
* Ensure standard adherence to WLP process
* Act as an operational Interface to various stakeholders
* Responsible for grid location mapping

* Provide management reporting as required
* Ensure compliance with hardware specification requirements including density management, installation policies and best practices for hardwareAsset Management
* Ensure asset management is performed to maintain inventory tools and databases
* Perform Capacity Modeling
* Ensure capacity reports are updated with Data Center activities

Project Management
* Represent Data Center Facilities team on all transformation related planning meetings
* Maintain ownership and end to end responsibility of scheduling and coordinating all onsite activates according to the Data Center transformation project plan
* Set expectations regarding timelines for the facilities activities
* Update reports and tracking templates related to the projects

Service Management
* Perform incident, problem, change functions in designated Service Management system
* Ensure compliance to HP Service Management system for all scheduled activities

REQUIRED
* At least 5 years physical onsite Data Center experience supporting the Data Center equipment and/or infrastructure to include:  Power, Space, Cooling, Equipment
* Ability to evaluate all manufacturers' specifications for equipment new and old in order to assign placement in the Data Center
* Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and conversions (ie  Kilowatts, Amps, phases, etc)
* Provide review for proposed solutions to validate requirements and identify potential faults/single points of failure
* Experience working in a Structured ITIL and or ISO environment utilizing Problem, Change and Incident disciplines
* Experienced and have specialized knowledge in Data Center hardware planning, installing (racking/stacking/cabling) in relevant technologies/devices within scope including server, storage, network, and Mainframe
* Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project
