For a client of ours, we are looking for a creative Sound & Acoustics Researcher, who can create new algorithms.

Location: Leuven

Duration: 9 months (till the end of 2014), with possible permanent hire

Languages: English; Dutch is a plus

Start date: ASAP

These innovations are used in a wide range of automotive, identification, wireless infrastructure, lighting, industrial, mobile, consumer and computing applications. The client embraces innovation as growth engine for its leadership position in High Performance Mixed Signal markets. Its central Research & Development organisation is chartered to provide the client's businesses with breakthrough and differentiating innovations. Our sound & acoustics related activities are located in Leuven (Belgium) as part of the Innovation Centre Sensors.

To strengthen our team we are looking for:

Researcher Sound & Acoustics (M/V)

Summary: Sound algorithm development for both automotive as mobile applications

Scope: Idea creation + Matlab simulation + PC demonstrators

Position:

- You prototype and develop novel acoustical concepts and sound algorithms;
- You perform objective (acoustic measurements) and subjective (listening tests) experiments;
- You demonstrate concepts and algorithms both internally and to external customers;
- You translate your realizations into architecture requirements for chips;
- You support the integration of your deliverables into chips;
- You actively participate in the idea creation and sound strategy processes;

Expectations:

- You hold a Master's (or equivalent) or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or Digital Signal Processing;
- You have basic experience in Digital Signal Processing (audio processing) (1-3 years);
- You have 3-5 years of experience with Matlab prototyping;
- You are familiar with computer-aided design (electronic modelling tools, Simulink);
- You have a very strong affinity for audio/music;
- You have sound & acoustics knowhow (3-5 years)
- Sector know-how of audio applications (1-3 years) is a plus
- You are a creative person, able to bring new ideas to a prototype stage, working out efficient solutions in an independent manner;
- You are able to work together with our demanding customers, are quality minded and deliver on commitment;
- You are an excellent team player;
- You are fluent in English. Dutch is a plus
