Principal Development EngineerMy client is searching for a Principal Java Engineer who has previous experience working with SQL, APACHE, UNIX or LINUX. The Java engineer will work as part of a team with responsibility for design, development and maintenance of software based solutions that make up an online payment processing gateway. Their technology team are proud to be delivering the largest technology transformation programme in Europe, allowing us to expand on the nearly 9 billion transactions we currently process annually.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for understanding the business requirements, produce reliable, structured, Greenfield code and identify improvements and enhancements to working practices.
The company itself operate in over 40 countries and is a major global leader in payment processing. We pioneered online payments for small and medium sized businesses and process millions of online payments every day.
Key Responsibilities;
The Principal Development Engineer will work as part of a team with responsibility for design, development and maintenance of software based solutions that make up online payment processing gateway.
- The Principal Development Engineer will act as a technical lead and mentor to others within their development team.
- The company is adopting agile/SCRUM development methods; practical experience of these would be an asset.
Key Technical Skill Requirements;
- Java - at least 5 years commercial experience
- SQL (Preferably Oracle or Sybase) -at least 5 years commercial experience including optimisation of queries
- Apache/Tomcat
- Source code control (SVN or similar)
- Unix (Preferably Sun Solaris and/or Linux) - 3 years commercial experience
