Finance Analyst
Location: Stoke, Gifford
Contract Duration: Approx 6 months
Rate: Up to £225 per day

Finance Analyst required with the following experience:

*This job involves thorough analysis of large amount of data at detail level so attention to detail and accuracy is essential;
*Good Excel and PowerPoint skills including pivot table, lookup and graphs etc;
*Taking full ownership of the jobs done, including flexibility to work overtime during busy month end if necessary and ability to work well under pressure to achieve multiple deadlines;
*Good communication skill with non-finance people and ability to work alone away from the rest of finance team;
*Ability to think outside the box and take initiative; eg looking at opportunities to streamline the month end processes or task.
*Commitment to complete the whole contract duration is essential. Possible opportunity to extend the contract or turn to permanent position at the end.

Desirable

*Good understanding of finance and business issues, part qualified preferred but not essential;
*Good knowledge of Oracle is desirable but not essential;
*Job entails an element of travelling with the occasional overnight stay;

About the Role:

This role supports the Programme Finance Manager in the day to day financial analysis and period end reporting activities.

1.Ensure costs and billings reported against projects and cost categories are correctly coded and analysed, and work with Commercial and Central Accounting Team to investigate and correct billing errors;
2.Work with project managers to complete volume delivery tracker to capture reasons and fault attributions for shortfalls;
3.Prepare and authorise journals;
4.Analyse period, year to date and full year variances on cost, volume and unit rate.
5.Assist with monthly commentaries and forecast for management review pack;
6.Analyse monthly operating expenditure report and provide commentary;
7.Analyse and review Balance Sheet and clear suspense account;
8.Track and validate change control log for both cost and volume;
9.Support the annual business planning process.
10.Provide ad hoc support to the business to so that project reporting is accurate and meaningful to business decision making.
11.Assist in the preparation of investment paper for authority.
12.Holiday cover for Programme Finance Manager.
