The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering, the Mechanical Technician will support building of R&D prototypes, operate CMM for inspections of complex parts, set up and operate CNC machine tools in manufacturing assembly line, and eventually lead machine operators and assemblers on the assembly line. S/he will also be responsible for troubleshooting and problem-solving, in addition to assembly, analyzing and evaluating manufacturing processes and making recommendations to the team.

Applicant must have proven technical and documentation experience in fast-paced, diverse, high-technology hardware manufacturing environments, with good machining set-up and documentation experience.

As an early member of our entrepreneurial team, we are looking for a collaborative, hands-on individual who is a team player; highly detail oriented, enthusiastic and is a "gear head", familiar with vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Working with R&D Engineers build prototype mechanical assemblies, Dynamometers, and fabricating parts
  • Support manufacturing assembly of motors, set-up CNC machines and test systems
  • Operate CMM for inspection of complex parts, measure mechanical parts for incoming inventory inspections
  • Assemble motors and fabricating rotor assemblies with CNC Lathe , and balancing processes
  • Inspect production parts with precision gages and tooling as well as operating CNC CMM
  • Assemble DCU ( motor controller) and help document manufacturing processes
  • Support customer installations as required


Requirements
  • AA or BS in machine technology, or degree from technical school in machine technology (machine, , mechanical assembly)
  • 5 years in manufacturing environment and/or industry
  • Experience with assembly/repairs of automobiles/complex machinery/Robotics
  • Experience with machine shop practices, machining with lathes/mills, ability to do set-ups
  • Experience measuring and gauging machined parts, ability to use CMM for measuring precision parts
  • Strong mechanical ability to assemble and document assembly of high precision rotating machinery
  • Good mechanical assembly aptitude, with experience machining and setting up parts for machining
  • Familiar with assembly techniques.
  • Strong analytic problem solving skills
  • Highly detailed and deliberate in work, taking care in handling of precision parts and observant about mechanical details
  • Occasional travel as required
