Large Utilities Company require a security consultant for their location in Gloucester, they are offering a day rate up to £480 per day and the contract will be an initial 3 month contract with the possibility of an extension.

The post holder will provide support to the IT Projects Team to ensure that all aspects of IT security policies & operational compliance, covering IT systems and digitised information are adhered to in a proactive manner. This will include assisting in risk management, IT audit and assurance activities, regular operational compliance monitoring and guidance to IT projects.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, with strategic support from Information Security Manager, the main purpose of the role is to create, coordinate, evaluate, prioritise and track project plans as per the project strategy with the Project/Programme Managers.

* Liaise with business representatives and technical teams (such as IT Operations, HR, Legal and Compliance), plus senior and middle managers throughout the organisation as necessary, on Information Security matters.

* Carries out risk & compliance assessments within a defined functional or technical area of business by using a consistent process for identifying potential risk events, quantifying and documenting the probability of occurrence and impact on the business. This will include control and countermeasure recommendations and approaches which will then inform a robust risk treatment plan.

* Provide sound understanding of technical issues in the area of responsibility to project community. Provide when required security policy, process and procedure guidance and interpretation for Nuclear Generation staff managing security related requests and changes.

Competencies:

* A strong communicator with the ability to influence people
* Experience in Information Security and related technologies
* Experience of conducting security risk assessments, audit and assurance activities
* Ability to create relationships with the other IT functions and as required, with business representatives
* The person should be able to demonstrate the ability to take responsibility and make sound decisions on security related issues
* Absolutely trustworthy with high standards of personal integrity
* Possession of professional certifications and membership in professional associations is highly desirable (eg CISSP, IISP, CISM, CEH, CLAS)
* Background in the workings of an IT department - eg computer operations, operations analysis, systems programming, networking, and database administration
