Scala, Java web Developer, functional programming, Javascript, HTML, CSS.We are urgently seeking a Scala Web Developer to work in central London.
As part of an ongoing programme of product improvement our client is looking for a Web Developer to assist with:
* the rewriting of ther legacy risk management web application;
* the addition of new functionality to support extended data coverage;
* the addition of new features requested by clients; and general application maintenance.
The tasks listed above will involve a mixture of user interface work as well as server-side coding and, possibly, database modifications.
The successful candidate will join a team of three developers and must have the experience and attributes listed below.
Required:
* 5 years commercial experience using a Java web application technology.
* Some exposure to functional programming, preferably in Scala, not necessarily in a commercial environment.
* Version control experience (git).
* JavaScript (jQuery preferably).
* HTML and CSS.
Nice to have:
* JasperReports
* PostgreSQL
* Caucho Resin
* Portfolio of projects (on github)
* Typesafe stack - Play, Akka
Desirable:
* Lift web framework
* Scalaz
* Understanding of SQL
* SOAP Web services (CXF)
* Other JVM-based languages (e.g. Groovy)
* Experience with *nix
* Tools and IDEs (Eclipse, Vim, SBT, Jira)
