Overall Purpose
The overall purpose of the Systems Engineer role is to complete technical tasks to automate and implement our client's product suite for their clients.
The successful candidate will be required to -
Configure and deploy complex software products in accordance with the market requirements
Build and deployment Scripting, automation and troubleshooting
Software configuration
Documenting best practice and standards for Engineers and Developers
This role would suit an Engineer wanting to broaden their technical experience by working in a large team which develops highly scalable, distributed, enterprise level applications and services for delivery to demanding clients.
Key Responsibilities
Build environments to support each stage of the development life cycle
Support day to day builds and deployments of the products and ensure that the dev and test environments are in usable state throughout various phases of project
Enhance and document automated build and deployment processes
Execute environment management and deployment tasks
Configure software products in line with market business requirements
Document standards and best practice for Developer deliverables
Trace issues encountered during software configuration and testing to root cause
Troubleshoot technical issues with software configuration/set-up in new environments
Follow version control processes
Deliver process improvements to drive out efficiencies in the way we manage, deploy and support our software, under guidance from Implementation Director
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
Fundamental knowledge of .NET application deployments
Hands-on experience with Oracle or SQL Server
Good knowledge of at least one programming/Scripting language (VBScript, Powershell etc)
Basic understanding of the Agile software life cycle
Good degree in a technical discipline
Good knowledge and keen interest in software development and delivery
Desirable
Knowledge of Nant, MSBuild or similar Build Automation tool
Knowledge of TeamCity, TFS Build Engine or similar Continuous Integration tool
