Intuition IT Solutions is currently looking for aPrincipal Engineer (Java & Big Data) – JVM Architect (m/f)
Common and consistent software platform is the key to the success of building complex network element and other applications with differing requirements. A common software platform brings benefits to R&D work (time-to-market, R&D efficiency, etc.) and also to the customers in terms of consistent O&M, reduced training needs and others. Software Platform architecture work in this context focuses on lower layers of the software stack: operating systems, hardware adaptation, virtualization, high availability middleware and O&M. Having a wide variety of applications, the focus within software platform architecture development is on modularity, configurability and adaptability to various use cases, including network infrastructure (NFV/SDN), enterprise networking and enterprise IT.
Job Description
Intuition IT Solutions is looking for experts in the Java and big data domains, familiar with low-level Java internals. The primary focus of the work will be on the JVM itself, working in close collaboration with upstream in areas such as CPU architecture enablement, as well as with the local OS & Virtualization teams on cutting edge virtualization technology and research with a strong JVM focus, building the next generation platform.
The big data aspect of this position primarily relates to infrastructure enablement, readiness, and performance tuning – particularly with regards to defining and shaping the overall architecture, and ensuring technological readiness for complex big data stacks and Java workloads.
Within the scope of your areas of expertise and responsibility you will:
? Track the trends of JVM and big data framework technology in general.
? Perform business analysis and technical risk evaluation of proposed designs/solutions, contributing to business and technical planning.
? Have dialogue with customers and inject customer feedback to corresponding stakeholders, with a focus on IT and CT domains.
Requirements & Qualifications (domain specific, partial qualifications taken into account)
? Master or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, communications, or equivalent technical degree. Degrees in information management and business intelligence will also be considered for the right candidate.
? Minimum of 10 years working experience.
? Strong experience with Java, particularly at the JVM level.
? Experience with multi-threaded and clustered application design and development.
? Familiarity with big data frameworks (Hadoop/MapReduce, HDFS, Spark).
? Familiarity with OpenJDK, Sumatra, or Aparapi.
? Familiarity with virtualization technologies (specifically KVM) is a plus, but not a requirement.
? Experience working with and contributing to the Open Source community preferred.
? Fluent in English (written and spoken); German and/or Chinese would be a plus
? Worldwide short-term travels are required
? Excellent intercultural communication and coordination skills
? Excellent interpersonal skills and team-work spirit and independent working capability
? Experience with Asian business culture is nice to have
? Hands-on and can-do attitude
