We are working with a large Federal Government organisation to source 2 UNIX Technical Specialists. The contract will be initially until March 2015 as well as a further extension option until September 2015.

DUTIES:

The requirement, at a high level, is for a technical specialist with skills to work in the Enterprise Midrange Unix (EMU) team. As well as the technical knowledge required, there is the requirement for ongoing mentoring and skills transfer to APS staff.

Key activities include

  • Provide Unix administration support for a variety of complex Unix Midrange environments on Enterprise strength hardware.
  • Build and implement technical solutions using an enterprise strength Operating System and associated hardware while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provide technical consultancy to internal staff and external clients.
  • Build and Maintain the Standard Operating Environment for Solaris 10.
  • Experience in the integration of SAP and Unix Systems.

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of Unix systems in large Enterprises
  • Several years extensive experience in Unix System Administration, including design and development, maintenance, support and resolution
  • Ability to follow change control procedures, mentor staff and document all aspects of the development and implementation of systems
  • Resilient with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to team members
