Blueye is an interactive agency located in the heart of Wicker Park in Chicago. We provide a variety of development services for clients ranging anywhere from small website projects, to native mobile applications to complete, multi-purpose platforms.
We are a Facebook Preferred Marketing partner and operate The Hub, our recently launched platform that utilizes Facebook’s API (amongst other technologies), so understanding the Facebook landscape is a definite bonus. Experience with Google’s APIs, and other advertising platforms is a plus.
We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer who is passionate about creating efficient and scalable software using the latest frontend & backend technologies. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the full software stack, have their finger on the pulse of new technologies and strive to create elegant code. An understanding of mobile technology is a huge plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our Project Managers, Design and Tech team to create new features and services
- Create clean, well-documented and efficient software and services
- Create clean, semantic markup inline with current best practices -Create elegant and performant client-side application code
- Implement design layouts in code to the pixel and for various platforms and browsers
- Maintain, refactor and optimize existing sites and services
- Experience with Object Oriented PHP
- Experience with Facebook Connect / Opengraph
- Experience with web frameworks such as CakePHP, Rails or Django
- Experience with CMS/Blog platforms such as Drupal, or Wordpress
- Experience with using MySQL, Postgresql, etc..
- Strong command of web standards, CSS-based design, cross-browser compatibility
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented Javascript
- Experience with modern CSS/styling frameworks (Less, SCSS, etc..)
- Intermediate experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with modern version control (git, bitbucket) and workflows
- iOS and/or Android Development experience
- Expertise in Object Oriented PHP and experience with various aspects of “PHP: The Right Way”
- Responsive design strategies and tactics
- SEO, Semantic markup, Microformats
- Agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban etc..
- Experience with e-commerce and e-com platforms such as Magento, XCart, Spree etc..
- Proficiency in other languages such as Python or Ruby (extra credit for Java, Ruby, or C++)
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix
- Involvement in open source projects or regular Meetup groups
