As a Cost Engineer you are responsible for the cost calculation of both new and existing systems. In the new product introduction and optimisation phase you carry the responsibility for determining the best price.
You will work closely with the development department and make decisions based on features, concepts and models and price estimates. As a basis for this, you therefore must understand the cost structure of mechatronic components.
During the whole life cycle of a product, you will ensure optimal cost setting. You will lead cost negotiations with customers and suppliers and prepare discussion papers for price. You can demonstrate to customers and suppliers and also explain the structure of the calculation of the cost.
In addition, you will initiate cost roadmaps and determine the cost of mechanical (plate and milling parts), electrical and mechatronic modules by means of calculations. You will also monitor the targets for internal and external suppliers.
Skills and Background
We want you to have a technical bachelor degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Other important features to fulfil the role of Cost Engineer are:
- You have a good knowledge in mechatronics / mechanical manufacturing industry.
- You have good experience of costing techniques that can determine price based drawing packages, bill of materials, but also functional models.
- You have good communication skills at all levels of the organisation.
- You have proven experience in pricing of mechatronic systems.
- You have proven knowledge of millwork, sheet metal, electrical systems and mechatronic modules.
- You have a background as a planner, calculator or estimator.
