We require a Senior Web Developer (Systems) for a 6 month contract role based on a client site in Glasgow to start ASAP.

Skills and Experience

Essential
Proven track record of developing websites using classic ASP and/or ASP.NET, particularly within an enterprise level Content Management System.
Experience of developing templates within an enterprise level Content Management System.
Experience of integrating an enterprise level search solution within templates to develop dynamically driven websites and Online tools.
Experience of generating database-driven web pages using MS SQL.
Knowledge of Server Side technologies such as IIS and URL Rewrite.
Experience of project management and technical leadership.
Educated to SCQF Level 9 (eg SVQ 4/Bachelor's degree) or with relevant professional qualification.

Desirable
Experience of XML/XSLT.

Role:
This role provides a comprehensive technical web development service to the organisation, by taking technical lead responsibility for the design, development and testing of websites and services to deliver the Client's Online Service and to support a specific project. This role also provides some project management and will provide specialist advice and guidance on best practice in the technical development of web content and services.
Act as a lead developer in the creation of web applications and/or web services using their systems including content management systems and search technology.
Develop, test and document websites and services in line with technical guidelines and quality processes.
Maintain and enhance web sites, interactive web applications and/or web services using systems including our content management systems and search technologies.
Help to ensure that an appropriate maintenance regime is in place such that existing solutions are regularly assessed for suitability and effectiveness.
Provide technical leadership for project teams by defining the technical strategy and approach to be taken for design and development work and oversee the implementation by the project team.
Perform project management duties, with support and mentoring from a project manager, or senior manager.
Develop project specifications, working with customers, project sponsors, developers and content providers.
Discuss and agree requirements with project managers, customers, developers and content providers and prepare estimates, schedules and proposals for all work.
Share skills, knowledge and ideas with colleagues across the organisation and where appropriate, with external peers.
Support external developers in the creation of technical solutions for the Online service.
