Strategic Planning Officer (Public Health)

3 month contract
Northampton

My Public Sector client in Northamptonshire is currently looking for a Strategic Planning Officer to join them on a 3 month contract starting ASAP.

As a key member of the Business Intelligence and Performance Improvement team, you will actively assist in the development and advocacy of data-led solutions to pressing local and regional issues. While you may start your role doing research, gathering evidence and datasets, and conducting analysis, you will significantly enhance your understanding and master many elements of evidence-based decision making and learn to prepare and present a clear, engaging and highly strategic Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

Role Responsibilities:
*Scope, identify and collate relevant datasets from internal and external colleagues and sectors and prepare supporting documents
*Provide front-line support on issues requiring engagement, solving problems and escalating to internal colleagues as needed
*Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for engagement with partners
*Meet with key stakeholders to help them understand the client's health and wellbeing strategy
*Represent the client at strategic meetings, speak publicly at events and conventions where required
*Conduct research into public health issues, working with other team members to fashion policy solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders while advancing the interests of the Client

Skills/experience required:
* Experience of working in a health or social care related strategic planning or analytical role in a public sector organisation, or equivalent experience in a complex private sector organisation.
* Experience of improving outcomes or performance through work on strategy/policy development.
* Experience of producing and influencing the development of high quality analytical and strategic documents and operational plans.
* Experience of working within successful partnership/collaborative models
* Understanding of the significance of demand management models
* A developed understanding of evidence-based management approaches
* The ability to operate effectively with people at a range of levels, both internal and external to the organisation
* Ability to influence the direction and development of strategic documents.
* Able to identify suitable and innovative problem solving solutions to planning and policy issues
* Prior experience of developing or delivering all or any part of a joint strategic needs assessment. (desirable)
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, negotiate and provide constructive challenge
* Developed research and evaluation skills, including the ability to assimilate a coherent overview from varying sources of information
* Well developed and engaging writing skills
* Highly developed analytical skills
* The ability to analyse and communicate complex information/issues and present information effectively and comprehensively both verbally and in written reports
* Strong ICT skills to support and develop work, supported by excellent self organisation and co-ordination skills
