We are currently seeking a Cognos BI Developer/Analyst
This is a very exciting opportunity to work in the growing area of Business Intelligence and Analytics, working with IBM’s industry leading Cognos BI Products.
We are interested in talking to candidates at all levels of experience. Training will be provided for suitable candidates who have the right attitude and transferrable technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support of Cognos BI reports, schedules, events, triggers and dashboards for EMEA and North American user base – in particular those developed for the Oracle e-Business Suite of Applications
- Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved reporting, analytics and delivery.
- Translation of business needs into documented reporting requirements.
- Design and develop solutions using Cognos BI to meet complex business requirements.
- Design and deliver end-user training and training materials.
- Metadata modeling using Cognos Framework manager
- Cognos Administration & Security
- Interface with other developers, Business Analysts, Project Management Office and Business Stakeholders on large-scale IT projects.
- Ensure compliance with company’s change and security policies.
Required Skills/experience
- Educated to degree level preferably in an IT-related discipline, or with significant industry experience.
- A very strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices – ideally Oracle PL/SQL and/or SQL Server experience.
- Ability to read and construct relatively complex SQL queries.
- Some knowledge of Reporting/Business Intelligence tools and trends
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Problem solving, lateral thinking and analytically minded.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of working life.
Desirable Skills/experience
- Any or all of the Cognos BI Stack: Report Studio, Framework Manager, TM1, Business Insight Advanced, Query Studio, Event Studio, Metric Studio, Active Reports
- Cognos Administration, Security & Implementation Experience
- Experience with any other leading BI tools (Microsoft SSRS, Oracle BIEE, SAP Business Objects, etc)
- Web Development Experience: HTML & JavaScript / jQuery allied with a good eye for User Interface design
- Oracle eBS experience
- Knowledge of Noetix Views for Oracle eBS, Noetix Generator
- Prior Banking/Financials project experience
- SDLC / Project Management experience
- Understanding of dimensional data, OLAP cubes
- Data warehousing, Data mining, Big Data Analytics
