Job descriptionAs Geomechanics Specialist you will be providing geomechanical support. Typically, you'll be involved in:
- Reservoir compaction, surface subsidence and induced seismicity
- Fracture gradient prediction and optimisation of mudweight for drilling
- Geomechanical issues related to drilling above and inside depleted reservoirs
- Providing advice concerning containment of injected fluids
- Production induced changes in rock properties, changing acoustic impedance contrast, detectable with 4D-seismic
- Determination of rock properties from laboratory core measurement
Desired Skills and Experience
A geomechanics specialist with a MSc or PhD level degree in Earth sciences, Geomechanics or (Geo)Physics, with extensive experience in geomechanics, rock physics, seismology or a related field, who is looking for challenging projects and likes to work in a group of highly technically skilled staff. Knowledge of petrophysics, structural geology and reservoir engineering would be an advantage. Well developed inter-personal and presentation skills are essential, and you should be a good team player, enthusiastic, rich in useful initiatives and possess a 'can-do' attitude. The ability to take initiative and work independently is vital. You'll also be flexible, able to prioritise your work and willing to travel occasionally.
