Description
Role: Principal Electrical DesignerKey Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
-Design and drafting for Oil &Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical Projects.
-Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards as well as Company Policies, Procedures and guidelines.
-Development/ improvement of department Procedures and Processes.
-Lead, guide and mentor junior Designers.
-Perform Quality Control in order to deliver high quality and consistent design.
-2D CAD design/ drafting. 3D Modelling using PDS or PDMS.
-Design, prepare and review the following drawings/ deliverables:
- One line diagrams.
- Hazardous Area Classification.
-Underground duct bank, cable tray installation.
-Layouts for Substation/ electrical building, power, control, grounding, lighting, lightning protection.
-Schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams.
-Cable and panel schedule.
-Guide and participate in Design Reviews for 3D Modelling, Constructability and Value Engineering.
-Create Material Take-off from drawings.
-Coordinate and interface with other engineering disciplines and construction.
-Liason with other offices when involved in workshare assignment.
-Vendor drawing review for electrical, Mechanical packages and other disciplines.
-Support preparation of proposals and estimates for manhours and materials. Experience in estimation of manhours, quantities and cost is a plus.
-Provide support to construction.
-Perform plant walkdowns to gather existing field information.
Qualification/ Experience:
-BS Degree or completion of Technical course .
-More than 20 years of electrical design experience related to Oil & Gas projects including 8 years as lead designer.
-Demonstrate competency with:
-AutoCad, MicroStation
-PDS, PDMS.
-MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-Familiarity with National Electrical Code, electrical materials and installation practices.
-Strong understanding of basic electrical engineering and design/ drafting concepts.
-Generally knowledgeable of common mechanical equipment and packages.
-Good written and oral communication.
