Communications Consultant

Description

Assist in advising and counseling executive leaders with respect to communications issues, strategies, and tactics. Execute and manage internal communications and outreach to support all aspects of the company's operation. Manage assigned communications projects and monitor issues within the employee population. Assist in ensuring that communications plans and processes reinforce workforce understanding and compliance with company policies and public understanding of the company's operations. Assign and manage communications resources as required. Represent and back up the Director, Internal Communications in their absence at meeting with other executives. This work for this role will be largely project-focused.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and execute strategic and operational communications plans to support business objectives.
• Implement and manage creative communication vehicles and approaches in support of Director of Internal Communications.
• Assist Director of Internal Communications in advising and counseling executives on external communications issues and activities affecting the company.
• Fulfill project management responsibilities for assigned projects.
• Execute internal outreach: ensure plans are developed and executed as required.

SKILLS:

Minimum:

• 4-year relevant degree and a minimum of 10 or more years of experience in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Strong interpersonal communication and management skills; must be able to meet and work with Executives and others at all levels of the organization
• A high level of self-motivation and independence will be critical.
• Strong presentation skills
• Strategic thinking ability; self-motivation; organizational sensitivity
• Excellent follow through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear site, as applicable.
• Recent internal communications strategy execution and experience (within the past 3 years)

Preferred:

• Master's degree in Communications, Journalism or related discipline.
• Utility/energy industry experience
