My Life Insurance client urgently requires a fully Qualified Actuary with experience in the finance or actuarial functions of an insurance company, or similar.

You require:

  • A qualified actuary with experience in the finance or actuarial functions of an insurance company, or similar.
  • Technical knowledge - strong actuarial, risk management, Solvency II and ICA knowledge, with credibility when communicating "what good looks like", especially in respect of methodology & assumptions documentation, change management, operational controls, validation, expert judgement and uses of the Internal Model output.
  • The ability to interpret emerging regulations (including technical and actuarial requirements) and translate these into clear and precise requirements for the business, in the specific context of the group (ie ensure communication is meaningful and understood by all stakeholders).
  • Demonstrate an ability to understand and apply expert judgement, with appropriate proportionality in the context of on-going engagement with Line 1.
  • Understanding of risk across all categories impacting the Group.
  • An understanding of the role of Line 2 in risk oversight and an aptitude to generate ideas for the development of Independent Validation, including aspects of technical rigour required in respect of independent validation of components of the Internal Model.
  • Commercial acumen, with desire to proactively support delivery of business objectives.
  • A track record of personal delivery of quality outputs within required timescales and cost budgets.
  • Time management skills and ability to operate to multiple deadlines whilst maintaining quality of output.
  • Drive and flexibility to undertake a wide range of projects/activities simultaneously, and flex intensity of effort to meet periods of high demand.
  • Organisational skills - an ability to proactively montior of progress across a number of stakeholders and engage with multiple worsktreams.
  • An ability to translate ideas into tangible actions and make progress, gaining stakeholder buy-in to initiatives.
  • Stakeholder management - an ability to tailor communication style to specific stakeholders and contexts, and build professional and close working relationships and rapport with key stakeholders of a variety of levels and disciplines, whilst maintaining objectivity and independence.

Forthright and persistent to ensure assurance views are understood and acknowledged, whilst demonstrating tact and persuasiveness, and an ability to see issues from multiple perspectives to avoid unnecessary confrontation, whilst maintaining necessary independence.
