Job Description:
Our client is currently executing a project that consist of patching all physical and virtual Servers to the latest OS service packs, to the latest SQL server service packs, Hardware (Firmware) patching of Blade (HP) and enclosures. This process is executed in 2 streams: a manual track (system engineer executing the patches), an automatic track: usage of Altiris of executing the patch process. For this project we are looking for an additional resource. This resource will mainly follow up the Automatic track as well as execute some patching in the manual track.
Required knowledge:
- Excellent technical knowledge of OS2003,2008,2008R2, 2012, 2012R2 (troubleshooting, setup, configuration, patching, etc )
- Excellent technical knowledge on SQL Server (2005,2008,2012) installation, configuration and patching processes on Microsoft Clusters
- Proven background in managing (system deliveries, troubleshooting, change management, patching, etc) virtual and physical Servers in server environments
- Excellent knowledge of patch processes in complex environments.(technical and process knowledge and best practices) - Be able to work autonomously
- Very good knowledge of management and patching of HP hardware: HP blades technology, HP Enclosure C7000
- Good communication skills
- Excellent planner (patch planning, downtime minimization, etc)
- Can take ownership of a patch wave (patchwave = group of physical./virtual Servers that will be patched at a certain moment in time) and coordinate all aspects for the good execution of his patch wave.
- Knowledge of Altiris as a patching tool is an asset
- Availability to work on certain week-end's for patch execution.
- Understanding that respect of the Change Management process is key.
