We are currently seeking a Packaging Engineer to provide packaging engineering support utilizing project management skills toward the design, development, installation, startup, validation and maintenance of products, processes and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Research, develop, prepare specifications and manage projects for improvements in existing and/or new product packaging components, container closure and drug delivery systems, packaging/inspection processes, molding operations and packaging/inspection equipment.
2. Draft and execute protocols for material, component and package testing, including design of experiments and failure mode analysis.
3. Support projects by contributing to the development of project schedules, teams, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings and communicating issues and progress to management.
4. Prepare Requests for Capital Investments including project description, schedule and costs.
5. Prepare User Requirements Specification documentation.
6. Work with automation engineering and outside vendors to incorporate automation requirements in the component and/or package design.
7. Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
8. Supervise daily activities of all levels of Engineering Aides.
9. Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic activities involving up to $5MM (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
10. Prepare and present technical investigative reports to middle level management.
11. Moderate degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
12. Preparation of specifications and protocols for the development, testing and qualification of equipment, processes and products.
13. Communicate both verbally and written project activities to supervisor.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
BS degree with at least 6-7 years experience in a Packaging Engineering position with the medical device industry.
Desired: BS degree in Packaging Engineering with at least 5 years experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing/Engineering environment.
